playdate with hameedha k. for mistè fèmante
in hindsight, the prompt was: “find god at the mbta station, find god everywhere” the magical mundane lives on & beautiful spirits walk among us if you just look!
i think i love the concept of urban fantasy because of growing up in boston. at times, i find this city is so sterile, puritan, anal—a repetition of bricks, concrete; a culture of permits, credentials, and curfews. it can feel like a city like this is devoid of spirit at first glance. urban fantasy helped me connect to how god and magic leave no corner of this earth untouched.
i love how the station looks wild with light
it’s been awhile since i’ve explored photo as a medium. thank you hameedha for helping me wade back in. this was such an inner child delight! not just because this was my favorite medium of choice when i was younger but because hameedha plays in a way i really resonate with and being friends with her totally lights me up! can you see that light in the photos? i can ❤️🔥
phrases she used to describe some of the photos that i love:
“spirits in passing”
“MBTA shrine arches”
